i. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate one of the ambitious programmes of the Centre, LPG Panchayat, aimed at encouraging rural communities to turn to clean fuel.
ii. The First LPG Panchayat will be held in Gandhinagar, where Pradhan will preside over the interaction between women using LPG under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) and the companies.
iii. According to data shared by the oil marketing companies, so far three crore connections have been allotted under the PMUY against the target of five crore by 2019.


i. State Bank of India (SBI) has launched the FTSE SBI Bond Index series in partnership with global index provider FTSE 100, which will give tools to investors from India, the UK and globally to analyse India’s government bond market, and drive growth in this market.
ii. This index, launched in collaboration with the London Stock Exchange, will ensure that international investors have an international benchmark that is transparent, that is well governed and that is something they can easily rely on.


i. Bixby takes some initial setting up, requiring users to input their voice, reading commands and sentences and trying out a few tasks. 
ii. Bixby is meant to do additional and on-phone tasks which Samsung hopes will make getting things done faster and easier. Bixby Voice can be triggered by saying “Hi Bixby” to a sleeping device also.


i. Dr. Harshvardhan launched “Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Vigyan Gram Sankul Pariyojana” which will experiment and endeavour to formulate and implement appropriate S&T Interventions for Sustainable Development through cluster approach in Uttarakhand.

i. Dabur India has tied up with e-commerce major Amazon for an online Ayurveda marketplace which will house all ayurvedic brands and products of the country.
ii. The company will also offer consumers an insight into various ayurvedic medicines for treating a variety of ailments. The exclusive Ayurveda e-marketplace has been hosted by Amazon India and the content is developed by Dabur India.

i. India has received its first High Horsepower Locomotive with the bodyshell of 12000 HP loco from Alstom France at Kolkata port. This first-of-its-kind high-power electric locomotive will be used to haul freight trains at twice the existing speed by 2018.
ii. This is the first major FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) project in the rail sector. The first such locomotive is estimated to cost about Rs 30 crore. The Indian Railways is currently using 6,000HP locomotives for freight services. The locomotive will run at a speed of up to 120 km/h.

ii. West Bengal, for the first time in 2012 had received a USD 400 million from ADB, its first policy-based lending with an aim to create a fiscal space necessary to sustain higher public investment in the eastern India.

                 దేశంలోని అతిపెద్ద రంగమైన భారత రైల్వేశాఖలో కొలువుల జాతర మొదలైంది. రైల్వే ప్రొటక్షన్‌ ఫోర్స్‌(ఆర్‌పీఎఫ్‌) విభాగంలో అతిపెద్ద ఉద్యోగ నోటిఫికేషన్‌ను విడుదల చేసేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం ప్రణాళిక సిద్ధం చేసింది. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా 2లక్షల25వేల823 ఆర్‌పీఎఫ్‌ కానిస్టేబుల్‌ పోస్టులను భర్తీ చేసేందుకు రంగం సిద్ధమైంది. ఇప్పటికే రైల్వే శాఖలో అవసరమున్న సిబ్బంది వివరాలను సేకరించి.. మొత్తం భర్తీ చేసేందుకు కేంద్రప్రభుత్వం సంసిద్ధతతో ఉంది. దీంతో నిరుద్యోగ అభ్యర్థుల్లో హర్షాతిరేకాలు వెల్లువెత్తుతున్నాయి. ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్రం ఏర్పడి మూడేళ్లు గడుస్తున్నా... నేటికీ రాష్ట్రంలో ఉద్యోగాల భర్తీ ఊసే లేకపోవడంతో ఏళ్ల తరబడి ఉద్యోగాల కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తున్న అభ్యర్థుల ఆశలు అడియాశలుగానే మిగిలాయి. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం అతిత్వరలో ఉద్యోగ ప్రకటన చేయనుండడంతో అభ్యర్థులు రెట్టింపు ఉత్సాహంతో సాధన చేసేందుకు పోటీ పడుతున్నారు. దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా ఒకే రిక్రూట్‌మెంట్‌ ఉండటంతో పోటీ కూడా తీవ్రంగా ఉండే అవకాశముంది. గతేడాది కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం కేవలం మహిళా కానిస్టేబుళ్ల నియామకానికే నోటిఫికేషన్‌ జారీ చేసింది. ఆ నోటిఫికేషన్‌లో సుమారు 2వేల మంది మహిళా ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ సిబ్బందిని నియామకం చేపట్టి విధుల్లోకి తీసుకున్నారు.
 
రెండు దశల్లో ఎంపిక ప్రక్రియ:
 
     కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ సంస్థ రైల్వేశాఖలో ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ సిబ్బందిని నియమించేందుకు అధికారులు రెండు దశల్లో ఎంపిక ప్రక్రియను చేపట్టనున్నారు. ఫిజికల్‌ ఎఫిసియెన్సీ టెస్ట్‌ (పీఈటీ), రెండు దశగా రాత పరీక్షను నిర్వహించి.. అర్హత సాధించిన వారికి మెడికల్‌ పరీక్షల అనంతరం విధుల్లోకి తీసుకోనున్నారు. అన్‌రిజర్వ్‌డ్‌, ఓబీసీ కేడెట్లకు ఎత్తు 165.0 సెంటీమీటర్లు, చాతి భాగం 80-85, ఎస్సీ, ఎస్టీ అభ్యర్థులకు ఎత్తు 160.0సెంటిమీటర్లు, చాతి 76.2-81.2 ఉండాలి. అదేవిధంగా మహిళా అభ్యర్థులకు అన్‌రిజర్వ్‌డ్‌ కేటగిరికి 157.0సె.మీ., ఎస్సీ, ఎస్టీ అభ్యర్థులకు 152.సెం.మీ. ఉండాలి. అదేవిధంగా పురుష అభ్యర్థులు 1600మీటర్ల పరుగు పందాన్ని 5నిమిషాల45 సెకన్లలో, హైజంప్‌ 3.9ఫీట్లు (రెండు అవకాశాలు), లాంగ్‌జంప్‌ 14 ఫీట్లు (రెండు అవకాశాలు), మహిళ అభ్యర్థులు 800 మీ. పరుగును 3.40సెకన్లు, హైజంప్‌ 3ఫీట్లు (రెండు అవకాశాలు), లాంగ్‌ జంప్‌ 9 ఫీట్లు (రెండు అవశాలు) ఉంటుంది. అదేవిధంగా రాత పరీక్షలో జనరల్‌ అవేర్‌నెస్‌ (100 మార్కులు) సబ్జెక్టులో కరంట్‌ అఫైర్స్‌, హిస్టరీ, జనరల్‌ సైన్స్‌, మ్యాథమెటిక్స్‌ తదితర అంశాలుంటాయి. ఎస్‌ఏ రైటింగ్‌ విభాగంలో 50మార్కులకు ఏదో ఒక అంశంపై ఇంగ్లీష్‌, హిందీ లాంగ్వేజ్‌లో వ్యాసరూప సమాధానాలు రాయాల్సి ఉంటుంది. జనరల్‌ ఇంగ్లీష్‌ ప్రశ్న పత్రంలో (50మార్కులు) గ్రామర్‌, కరెక్షన్‌ ఆఫ్‌ సెంటేయిన్స్‌, ఇతర అంశాలపై ప్రశ్నలు ఉంటాయి.

          రైల్వేశాఖలో ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ ఉద్యోగానికి పదోతరగతి ఉత్తీర్ణత అర్హతగా కేటాయించారు. 18 నుంచి 25 ఏళ్ల వయస్సు ఉన్న అభ్యర్థులు దరఖాస్తు చేసుకోవాల్సి ఉంటుంది. ఎస్సీ, ఎస్టీ అభ్యర్థులకు నోటిఫికేషన్‌లో వయో పరిమితి సడలింపు ఇస్తారు. ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ నియామకాల కోసం ప్రస్తుతానికి నోటిఫికేషన్‌ అధికారికంగా విడుదల కానున్నా.. కొలువులను కేటగిరి వారీగా కేటాయించారు. జనరల్‌ కోటాలో 8901, ఎస్సీ విభాగంలో 3317, ఎస్సీ విభాగంలో 3363, ఓబీసీ కేటగిరిలో 4371పోస్టులు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా భర్తీ చేయనున్నారు. 2018 జనవరి నాటికి ఈ పోస్టులను భర్తీ చేసేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం, రైల్వే రిక్రూట్‌మెంట్‌ బోర్డు సన్నాహాలు మొదలు పెట్టింది. అక్టోబర్‌ 14న చివరి దరఖాస్తు తేదీగా నిర్ణయించినట్లు తెలుస్తుంది.

             ఆర్పీఎఫ్‌ కానిస్టేబుళ్లు రైల్వే శాఖలోని వివిధ పోలీస్‌స్టేషన్ల పరిధిలో పనిచేయాల్సి ఉంటుంది. ముఖ్యంగా రైల్వేఆస్తులు, ప్రయాణికులు, వస్తువులకు రక్షణ కల్పిస్తారు. అదే విధంగా నేరాలు జరగకుండా సివిల్‌ పోలీసుల సమన్వయంతో పనిచేస్తారు. ఎలెక్షన్స్‌, ఎమర్జెన్సీ సమయాల్లో సహాయ సహకారాలు అందించడంలో ప్రత్యేకపాత్ర పోషిస్తారు. అదేవిధంగా రైల్వే ప్రొటెక్టీవ్‌ స్పెషల్‌ ఫోర్స్‌ బెటాలియన్‌ సిబ్బంది మాదిరిగా శిక్షణ పొంది సహాయ కార్యక్రమాలు అందిస్తారు. దీంతోపాటు విపత్తులు, వివిధ సమస్యల తరుణంలో కూడా మెరుగైన సేవలు అందించేందుకు వీరిని వినియోగిస్తారు. వీరి వేతనం 6వ పే కమిషన్‌ ప్రకారం రూ.5200- 20,200 ఉండగా, ప్రస్తుతం 7వ పే కమిషన్‌ ప్రకారం రూ.22వేల నుంచి రూ.25వేల వరకు ఉంటుంది. ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన పూర్తి వివరాలను ‘http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/‌’ వెబ్‌సైట్‌ను సంప్రదించవచ్చు.

ii. The agreement comes as Britain seeks to explore lucrative trade deals outside Europe, including energy-rich Gulf monarchies, after voting to leave the European Union.

i. The Union Cabinet has approved the revamped Khelo India program at a cost of Rs.1,756 crore for the period 2017-18 to 2019-20.
ii. The Programme aims at mainstreaming sport as a tool for individual development, community development, economic development and national development.
iii. Important features of the Program include:
  1. An unprecedented Pan Indian Sports Scholarship scheme, which would cover 1,000 most talented young athletes. 
  2. Each athlete selected under the scheme shall receive an annual scholarship worth Rs. 5.00 lakh for 8 consecutive years. 
  3. This is the first time ever that a long-term athlete development pathway would be made available to gifted and talented youngsters to excel in competitive sports.
  4. The Program aims to promote 20 universities across the country as hubs of sporting excellence, which would enable talented sportspersons to pursue the dual pathway of education and competitive sports.  
  5. The Programme would cover about 200 million children in the age group of 10-18 under a massive national physical fitness drive.


i. The World Health Organization (WHO) has released its first tranche of emergency funding of $175,000 to provide life-saving healthcare to the "vulnerable population" in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar.
ii. The WHO South-East Asia Regional Health Emergency Fund (SEARHEF) grant will support 20 mobile medical teams to provide essential services for at least two months.

i. World trade in goods is estimated to grow at a higher 3.6 percent in 2017 compared to 1.6 percent increase in 2016, according to revised estimates circulated by the World Trade Organisation.
ii. Growth in global trade was earlier projected at 2.4 percent in 2017 by the WTO, which attributed the improved outlook to a resurgence of Asian trade flows. This was mainly due to intra-regional shipments picking up and a recovery in import demand in North America.

i. Fino Payments Bank has launched its mobile banking app called BPay. Fino aims to make banking easy for millions of underbanked people in India. The upgraded BPay app is available on Android at present.
ii. An interesting feature of the mobile app is that it allows customers to seamlessly access wallet as well as savings account, with a single login and interface.

i. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has appointed B Sambamurthy as interim Chairman of the board. He will replace M Balachandran, who was Non-Executive Chairman of NPCI.
ii. Sambamurthy was formerly Director and CEO of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) and Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank prior to that.
