Centre approves modifications to ‘kambala’ Bill

i. The Centre has approved the modifications to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Karnataka Amendment) Bill 2017 to pave way for organizing ‘kambala’ in the coming season, according to PP Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice.
ii. Now, the Bill will be placed before the President for his approval. The approval by the President will help in the smooth conduct of ‘Kambala’ (the traditional slush track buffalo race) in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka. 
iii. The Bill proposes to exempt ‘kambala’ from the ambit of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

Cabinet approves MoU between India and Korea for export credit of USD 9 billion

i. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) and Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) for export credit of USD 9 billion for infrastructural development in India and for the supply of goods and services as part of projects in third countries.
ii. The MoU is proposed to be signed between the two banks during the forthcoming visit of the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley, to Seoul, the capital city of South Korea during 14-15 June 2017 for the Annual Financial Bilateral Dialogue.

PM of India leaves for Kazakhstan to attend SCO summit

i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today left for Kazakhstan, where he will attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and meet some foreign leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
ii. At the summit in Astana, India and Pakistan will become full members of the grouping, which at present comprises China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Ahead of his two-day visit, PM Modi stated that he looked forward to deepening engagement with the SCO countries.
iii. On the evening of June 9, he will also attend the inauguration of the Astana Expo with the theme of “Future Energy”.

Rajnath Singh inaugurated conference on disaster management

K G Karmakar, Gauri Shankar appointed directors of IPPB

i. K G Karmakar and Gauri Shankar were appointed as Independent Directors of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved their appointment to the post on the board of directors of the bank for a period of three years.
ii. The IPPB has been incorporated as a public sector bank under the Department of Posts with 100 percent equity of the government of India.

Nepal signs MoU with China for construction of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project 


i. Nepal has signed a major deal with a China to develop a 1,200 MW Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project, the biggest hydro project in the landlocked country that could resolve its perennial power crisis.
ii. Nepal’s Ministry of Energy has signed an MoU with China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) for the development of the 1,200 MW Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project.
iii. As per the agreement, the storage project would be built under engineering, procurement, construction, and finance (EPCF) model.

RBI keeps Repo Rate unchanged in Second Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement, 2017-18 


i. On the basis of an assessment of the current and evolving macroeconomic situation at its meeting today, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to:
  • Keep the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) unchanged at 6.25 per cent.
  • Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the LAF remains at 6.0 per cent, and
  • The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 6.50 per cent.

Montenegro becomes NATO’s 29th member 


i. Montenegro has officially joined North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and hence became the 29th member country of NATO. Montenegro Foreign Minister Srdjan Darmanovic submitted the official accession papers in a ceremony at the US State Department.
ii. The move came in the face of bitter opposition from Russia, which says NATO’s steady expansion into the former communist states of Eastern Europe threatens its own security and cannot go unchallenged.

Vijaya Bank set to develop 100 digital villages 


i. Vijaya Bank is going to develop as many as 100 digital villages in various States of the country as part of its initiative to promote digital banking among the rural population.

India Signs Loan Agreement with the World Bank for the project "Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery" 


i. An agreement for International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) Credit of USD 39.2 Million from World Bank for the project 'Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery' was signed recently.
ii. The loan agreement was signed by Shri Raj Kumar, Joint Secretary (MI), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India and Mr. Hisham Abdo, Manager, Operations (India) on behalf of the World Bank.
iii. The program size is USD 49 million, of which USD 39.2 million will be financed by the Bank, and the remaining amount will be funded out of State Budget.

i. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) will soon be a thing of the past as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is planning to replace the two education regulators with a new Higher Education Regulator.

మీకు తెలుసు. జీవితంలో ఏం సాధించాలన్నా, ఏం నేర్చుకోవాలన్నా దానికి తగిన ప్రేరణ, స్పూర్తి, చిత్తశుద్ది ఉండాలి. ఏదో అందరూ ‘ముఖ్యం’ అంటున్నారు కాబట్టి ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవాలి అని కాకుండా ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకుంటే కలిగే లాభాలేంటో మనకు తెలిసి ఉండాలి. కనీసం, ఇంగ్లిష్ రాకపోతే వచ్చే నష్టాలేంటో తెల్సినా చాలు. మన ఉజ్వల భవిష్యత్తే మనకు ప్రేరణ కావాలి.. So, be motivated and learn English.
 
2. ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవడానికి తగినంత సమయం ఇవ్వకపోవడం.
 
ఇదీ మీకీ తెలుసు. కేవలం ఆలోచన ఉంటే సరిపోదు. ఆచరణ కూడా కావాలి. ఏదో బుద్ది పుట్టినప్పుడు, ఎప్పుడో ఒక సారి కాకుండా రెగ్యులర్ గా, ప్రతిరోజూ కనీసం ఒక అర్థ గంటో, గంటో ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవడానికి కేటాయించాలి. పరిశీలనతో ఇంగ్లిష్ వినడం, చదవడం చేయాలి. కథలో, నవలలో, న్యూస్ పేపరో ఎదో ఒకటి చదవాలి. టీవీ న్యూస్, యూట్యూబ్ వీడియోస్, మూవిస్ ఎదో ఒకటి చూడటం అలవాటు చేసుకోవాలి. కృషి చేస్తే సాధించలేంది ఏమీ లేదు. కాని, కృషి చేయాలి కదా?
 
3. నేర్చుకున్నది ప్రాక్టిస్ చెయ్యకపోవడం.
 
ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడడం ఒక skill, నైపుణ్యం. కేవలం గ్రామర్ రూల్స్ నేర్చుకుంటే ఇంగ్లిష్ వచ్చేసినట్లు కాదు. నేర్చుకున్నది, నేర్చుకున్నట్లు ప్రాక్టిస్ చెయ్యాలి. అవకాశమొచ్చినప్పుడల్లా, ఇంకా చెప్పాలంటే అవకాశాలు కల్పించుకుంటూ ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడడం ప్రాక్టిస్ చెయ్యాలి. ఎంత ఎక్కువ ప్రాక్టిస్ చేస్తే అంత ఆత్మ విశ్వాసం పెరుగుతుంది. One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is practice.
 
4. ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవడంలో అవసరానికి మించి తెలుగు మీద ఆధారపడటం.
 
‘ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోవడానికి తెలుగు మీద అవసరానికి మించి ఆధారపడకండి.’ ఈ విషయం తెలుగు లోనే చెప్తున్నామనేం అనుకోకండి. కాని ఇది నిజం. ప్రతీ పదాన్ని, ప్రతీ వాక్యాన్ని తెలుగులో అనుకొని ఇంగ్లిష్ లోకి Translate చేసి మాట్లాడాలనుకోకండి. ఇలా చేయడం వల్ల మీరు సరిగ్గా మాట్లాడలేరు. ఎందుకంటే, ఇంగ్లిష్ వేరు, తెలుగు వేరు. కొత్తలో పర్వాలేదు కాని మెల్ల మెల్లగా మన మాతృభాష మీద అవసరానికి మించి ఆధారపడటం మానెయ్యాలి.
 
5. తప్పులు చేస్తామేమో అని ఎక్కువగా భయపడటం.
 
నడకైనా, నాట్యమైనా, భాషైనా, బాస్కెట్ బాలైనా ఏది నేర్చుకొనేప్పుడైనా తప్పులు చెయ్యడం సర్వ సాధారణం. తప్పులు చెయ్యకుండా ఎవ్వరూ, ఏమీ నేర్చుకోలేరు. ఇది 100% నిజం. కాబట్టి, తప్పుల మీద ఎక్కువ దృష్టి పెట్టడం మానెయ్యాలి. Confident గా మాట్లాడటం వచ్చిన తరువాత మెల్ల మెల్ల గా తప్పుల్ని సరిదిద్దుకోవచ్చు. So, don’t worry much about committing mistakes.
 
6. ఎవరైనా నవ్వుతారేమోనని సిగ్గు పడటం.
 
ఒక ఇరవై, ముప్పై సంవత్సరాల క్రితం ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడడం ఫ్యాషన్ అయితే కావచ్చేమో గాని, ఇప్పుడది ఒక అవసరం. చాలా మందికి ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడాలంటే చెప్పలేనంత సిగ్గు. ‘అంత అవసరమా’ అని అనుకుంటారు. పూర్తిగా ఇంగ్లిష్ రానివారితో కాదు కాని, కళాశాలల్లో, కార్యాలయాల్లో ఇంగ్లిష్ మాట్లాడే అవకాశం ఉన్నప్పుడు ప్రాక్టిస్ చెయ్యడానికి సిగ్గుపడకండి. వీలైతే మీ ఫ్రెండ్స్ కి, కొలీగ్స్ కి మీరు ఇంగ్లిష్ ఇంప్రూవ్ చేసుకుంటున్నారు అన్న విషయం అనౌన్స్ చెయ్యండి. ఎవరైనా నవ్వితే అది వాళ్ళ సంస్కార లోపం. మీ అభివృద్దికి సహకరించని వాళ్ళు మీ ఫ్రెండ్సే కారు. అటువంటి వాళ్ళను పట్టించుకోవడం మానెయ్యండి.
 
ఇవీ ముఖ్యమైన ఆరు కారణాలు. ఇందులో మీ కారణమేంటో గమనించండి, ఇవి కాక ఇంకేమైనా కారణాలుంటే ‘ఇంగ్లిష్ బడి’ తో పంచుకోండి.
