India’s ‘Ujala’ to light up homes in the United Kingdom 
i. India has taken a new initiative to supply cheap LED bulbs for the citizens of London in the United Kingdom. Taking this process to the final stages India will launch ‘UJALA’ scheme in the United Kingdom. 
ii. UJALA is globally one of the largest efficiency programs and being run by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, an energy services company promoted by Indian state-run power majors.


Andhra Pradesh ropes in Singapore firms to develop start-up area in Amaravati

i. Singapore-based Ascendas-Singbridge Pvt Ltd and Sembcorp Development Ltd were awarded a contract by the Andhra Pradesh government to act as the master developer for a start-up area in the capital city of Amaravati.  
ii. For the speedy implementation of the project, a high-level joint implementation steering committee (JISC) will also be formed. 
iii. The JISC will be co-chaired by the AP CM chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister of trade and industry of Singapore govt S.Iswaran.

IIEST creates India's first smart grid project 

i. IIEST has successfully created the country's first smart grid project, which will generate power from renewable sources of energy. 
ii. The project will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee.
iii. The smart grid will be synchronized to generate power from solar, wind and vegetable waste resources, depending on the weather conditions and availability of waste products. It is the first of its kind in the country. 



India ranked second in renewable energy attractiveness index 

i. India has moved up to the second spot from third position in this year's (2017) 'Renewable energy country attractiveness index' released by EY (Earnest and Young). ii. China, which has been ranked first in the index and India have surpassed the US, which fell for the first time since 2015 to third place in the ranking of top 40 countries.



Ovais Sarmad Appointed Deputy Executive Secretary in UNFCCC


i. Ovais Sarmad, an Indian has been appointed by the U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the post of Deputy Executive Secretary, which is a key post in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). 



Admiral Sunil Lanba attends international maritime review in Singapore

i. Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba attended Singapore's first International Maritime Review (IMR) held at the country's prime Changi Naval Base. 
ii. MrLanba attended the review along with navy ships INS Sahyadri and INS Kamorta
iii. The INS Sahyadri was part of the land review INS Kamorta was part of the sea review.

Indian Navy signs MoU with Space Application Centre

i. The Indian Navy and Ahmedabad- based Space Application Centre (SAC)  inked a pact on data sharing and scientific cooperation in the field of meteorology and oceanology. 
ii. The pact provides for the creation of a common platform for sharing expertise achieved by SAC with the Navy in a number of areas, including satellite data acquisition technology. 
iii. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Vice Admiral S N Ghormade, Director General Naval Operations, and SAC Director Tapan Misra at an event in Ahmedabad. 



ISRO, NASA to jointly inspect 'oldest civilization' site in Haryana 

i. Teams of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would inspect the excavation being carried out at an archaeological site in Haryana's Fatehabad district to verify claims of it being the oldest civilization in the world. 
ii. Archaeologists have recovered artifacts pre-dating the Harappan Civilisation from the site, located in village Kunal in Fatehabad district. 

SpaceX launches Inmarsat communications satellite

i. The USA based SpaceX has launched a communications satellite for Inmarsat, marking its first launch for the London-based mobile broadband company. 
ii. The Inmarsat-5 F4 satellite, built by Boeing, blasted off atop Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. 


Deepti Sharma, Poonam Raut create cricket history with record 320-run stand


i. India women’s cricket team openers Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut became the first-ever pair to share a 300-run stand in a One-Day International. 
ii. This feat was accomplished in a match against Ireland at Potchefstroom during the quadrangular series in South Africa.

PM Modi launches river conservation project in Madhya Pradesh
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Narmada Seva Mission for the conservation of the crucial river, which is a lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. 
ii. Narmada river captured the attention of the nation when it became the center of a decades-long struggle to stop the raising of the Sardar Sarovar Dam. 
iii. Narmada Seva Yatra was launched on December 11, 2016, projecting it as the world’s “biggest river conservation campaign with public participation.” It was concluded on 15th May 2017.

HM Rajnath Singh inaugurates 2nd meeting of NPDRR in New Delhi
i. The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the second meeting of National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) in New Delhi.  
ii. The Second meeting of NPDRR will be held over two days, i.e. 15-16 May 2017 on the theme 'Disaster Risk Reduction for Sustainable Development: Making India resilient by 2030'. 

‘Maa’ committee to check mid-day meal quality in UP schools
i. A Mother's Day gift has been given to lakhs of children in schools of Uttar Pradesh in the form of 'Maa' by forming the 'Maa Committee'.  
ii. It will be a committee of six mothers, from all sections of society stated by Uttar Pradesh basic education minister Anupma Jaiswal.


India-Chile expanded PTA comes into effect
i. The expanded Preferential Trade Agreement, PTA between India and Chile has come into effect.
ii. Under this trade agreement, both the countries have offered to lower or eliminate duties on a number of items traded with each other. Chile has offered duty concessions on about 1800 goods.  
iii. On the other hand, India has offered concessions to Chile on 1,031 products including vegetable oil, processed food, pharma, plastic, and pearls as against 296 earlier.

HDFC Life inks distribution tie-up with Catholic Syrian Bank
i. HDFC Life has entered into a bancassurance tie-up with Catholic Syrian Bank to distribute its individual life insurance products to the private lender’s customers. 
ii. With this partnership, HDFC Life will offer its leading range of individual life insurance, health and pension products to the Catholic Syrian Bank’s 1.5 million customer base across all its branches over a period of time.


India’s GDP projected to grow 7.4% in 2017-18: FICCI survey
i. In a survey conducted during March and April 2017, FICCI predicted India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth will be around 7.4% for fiscal 2017-18, with a minimum and maximum level of 7% and 7.6% respectively. ii. Agricultural sector is estimated to clock 3.5% growth in 2017-18, the pick-up in overall GDP growth will also be supported by an improvement in industry and services sector growth. The industry and services sector are expected to grow by 6.9% and 8.4% respectively in 2017-18.


Pawan Kumar Chamling conferred with first BS Shekhawat award
i. Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling was conferred with the first Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Lifetime Achievement Honour in Public Service by President Pranab Mukherjee. 
ii. The award was conferred during the first Bhairon Singh Shekhawat memorial lecture delivered by the President. 


IIT-Hyderabad professor bags INSA Young Scientist award
i. Assistant Professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology – Hyderabad (IIT-H) Aravind Kumar Rengan has been awarded the prestigious Indian National Science Academy (INSA) medal in the Young Scientist category for 2017. 
ii. The INSA Young Scientist Medal award carries a bronze medal and a cash prize of Rs25,000.

Nepalese woman breaks world record for most Everest summits
i. A 44-year-old Nepalese mountaineer Lhakpa Sherpa has broken her own world record for the most Everest summits by a woman after scaling the world's tallest peak for the eighth time. 
ii. She bettered her own record of scaling Mt Everest seven times.






Emmanuel Macron names Edouard Philippe as French Prime Minister
i. France's newly-elected President Emmanuel Macron has named Edouard Philippe as Prime Minister of France. 
ii. The 46-year-old lawmaker and mayor of Le Havre is from the conservative Les Republicans party. 
iii. It is the first time in modern French political history that a president has appointed a Prime Minister from outside his camp without being forced to by a defeat in parliamentary elections.

Former Puducherry Chief Minister S Ramaswamy passes away

i. Former Puducherry Chief Minister S Ramassamy died after a brief illness, family sources said. He was 80 . 
ii. He became chief minister in 1974 heading the AIADMK-CPI coalition ministry for a brief period.



 Arjun Maini became first Indian to win a GP3 race
i. Arjun Maini, driving for Jenzer Motorsports, created history by becoming the first Indian driver to win a GP3 race.
ii. The 19-year old scored his first win in two years while finishing six seconds ahead of Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci and teammate Alessio Lorandi of Italy.


Lewis Hamilton Wins Spanish Grand Prix
i. Lewis Hamilton has won the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position in the Formula One championship. 
ii. This is Hamilton’s 55th career win and second win of the season. 
iii. Mercedes’s Hamilton finished 3.4 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. The event was currently held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona.

Age Limit: Candidates age limit should be not exceeding 30 years (He/ she must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1987 and not later than 01-08-1999) for Post No. 01, 02, 04, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17 & 20, between 20 – 30 years (He/ she must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1987 and not later than 01-08-1997) for Post No. 03, 05 to 07, 09 & 18 and 18 – 27 years (He/ she must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1990 and not later than 01-08-1999) for Post No. 08, 11, 14, 15 & 19 as on 01-08-2017. Age relaxation is applicable to 05 years for SC/ ST candidates, 03 years for OBC, 10 years for PH, 13 years for PH + OBC and 15 years for PH + SC/ ST candidates. Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute for Post No. 01 to 22 & 24 to 32 and Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level for Post No. 23 with relevant experience.
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected based on Computer Based Examination, Descriptive Test, Skill Test, Documents Verification  & Interview.
Application Fee: Candidates should pay Rs. 100/- through SBI Challan/ SBI Net banking or through credit/ debit cards of any bank.

Instructions to Apply Online:
1. Candidates log on the website  www.ssconlie.nic.in
2. Click on Apply & Select the desired post
3. Again Click on Apply Link
4. Fill the form in 2 Parts (Part-I Registration, Part-II Registration).
5. In Part I Registration, Candidates have to fill basic information carefully.
6. After filling the Part-I, If there is no need to make any corrections then Click on “I agree” button. Thereafter no correction/ modification etc will be allowed.
7. Registration No will be generated, Note down the registration number or take out the print out of the page.
8. In Part II registration candidates have to enter the payment details, upload the photograph & scanned signature.
9. Those who are exempted from payment of fee can skip that entering those fields.
10. Fill all the details carefully & Submit the form.
11. Now take printout of online application for future use.
